Walking the Watershed of Scotland in Support of MND Scotland
Summer 2013
"What lies before us and what lies behind us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us."
Ralph Waldo Emerson
In summer2013, a team of people will walk the route of Watershed of Scotland to raise awareness and funding for Motor Neurone Disease charity, MND Scotland. This will be the first end-to-end completion of the 1200km route, in 50 days.
Motor Neurone Disease stops the nerve cells that control the body’s movement from sending messages to muscles. MND is often rapid and always fatal. There is no known cure, or effective treatment. There are currently 426 people living in Scotland with MND, and more than 130 people will be diagnosed this year. MND Scotland is the only charity providing care and support for people with MND and their carers, while also funding research into the disease.
Being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease also represents a watershed for those affected and their families. The amazing spirit demonstrated by people affected by Motor Neurone Disease and their loved ones, is the driving force behind this challenge.
